Thursday 3/10 Review:
  • Logged into Otȟókahe with our individual usernames and passwords. More information about this will be emailed if you have not yet signed in. We quickly toured the website and discussed what we will be doing this week.
  • Downloaded the New Lakota Dictionary desktop app. Every family member was given a product key to activate their app. If you still need a product key, please reach out.
  • Discussed plans for the remainder of the training (language weekend and online format).

Homework for 3/17:

Subject: 2022 Spring Group 1 - Parent Training Schedule
 
GROUP 1 Parent language trainings will begin TOMORROW, March 10, 2022 from 6pm – 7:30pm on Zoom. 
 
We are asking that at least one (1) parent/guardian be designated to learn Lakȟóta/Dakhóta. Your participation is very important as it is conducive to your child's language acquisition, therefore, your attendance and participation are not optional, but mandatory.​ 
 
Group 1 parent trainings will begin Thursday, March 10, 2022, from 6-7:30pm and continue every Thursday from 6-7:30pm via zoom until May 5, 2022. There will be a mandatory Language Training Weekend BOOSTER on Saturday & Sunday March 26-27.   Schedule below and attached.

About the Trainer
The parent trainings will be given by the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe’s Language & Culture Institute.  The lead instructor will be Nacole Walker.  Nacole Walker is Dakota and Lakota from the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe. She currently holds the position of the Standing Rock Language and Culture Institute Director. She received her B.A. in Linguistics from Dartmouth College, her M.Ed in Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment from the University of Mary, and is currently enrolled in a Doctoral program focused on Indigenous Language Revitalization at the University of Victoria.
